Tyler Perry Real Estate Investor
Tyler Perry enjoys buying homes and selling them for a profit. Through the real estate market’s highs and lows, Perry will wait years to sell his properties at the perfect time to turnaround a profit. In 2006, he bought a Hollywood Hills mansion for $9.6 million; it took a three year process of re-listing the home a total of five times to finally sell it for $11.25 million – a profit $1.65 million (Huffington Post). In comparison to Perry’s history with his Dean Gardens property in Georgia, his Hollywood Hills investment was fairly uncomplicated. In July 2010, Tyler Perry purchased the Dean Gardens mansion and estate in St. Johns Creek, Georgia at the incredible low price of 7.6 million (originally listed 17 years prior at $40 million). At first, it appeared that Perry acquired the 32,000 square ft., modern neo-classical mansion to enjoy as a luxury personal home. Soon after closing on the home, The New York Times reported on Perry’s original intention “to demolish the whole compound and build his own home, one that is environmentally friendly and made of concrete.” The news of Perry’s plan to buy and tear down one of Georgia’s finest and most talked about private homes quickly shook the mansion’s neighboring community and Georgia media outlets. In February 2014, the press revealed Perry’s new decision to halt plans on building a new mansion on the property and instead sell it to make a return on his investment. WSB-TV Atlanta reported Perry’s intention to sell the 58-acre estate to Lennar Homes (Feb 24, 2014). The home developers have already drafted plans to raze the estate to build 74 lots.
Ideal Tyler Perry Home
Tyler Perry enjoys homes with large square footage and acreages. If he loves everything about a home, he will keep it for himself; on the other hand, he also enjoys building a custom home from the ground up. Outside of Georgia, the perfect place for Tyler Perry is Reisterstown, Maryland. It is the perfect location for Perry to easily find a spacious mansion on a large acreage, with the option to build upon the property to suit his preferences. The Tyler Perry home must-haves are a large entertainment space, a media room, a wine cellar, and a chef’s kitchen with state of the art commercial-grade appliances.
