The Usual Suspects (1995) garnered him Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars, and he won again for Best Actor with American Beauty (1999). At this point in his career, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame immediately following the film’s release. Spacey assumes the role of Francis Underwood in this US remake of the 1990s British political drama. Since day one, the series has been filmed in Baltimore, Maryland. Kevin Spacey told The Hollywood Reporter that the producers selected Baltimore for the fantastic tax breaks, and in turn, the show employs thousands: “What we bring to the state of Maryland in terms of jobs and economy is extraordinary.”

He has been widely accredited for revitalizing the Old Vic and has been highly praised for his contribution to theater. Spacey told the press that he plans to leave his post at the Old Vic in 2015 (Daily Mail UK). The House of Cards is proof of his attention to other projects. When not in London, Spacey has been spotted enjoying his time in Baltimore and going to Baltimore Orioles games.
